Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3, that features Sanjay Dutt, Jimmy Sheirgill, Mahie Gill and Chitrangada Singh in the lead roles, had a disastrous first weekend at the box-office. The film, directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia, collected Rs 5.28 crore in its first three days of release, which means that it barely has any takers in the cinemas.
Film trade analyst Sumit Kadel shared the film’s business figures in a tweet he posted in the Monday afternoon. Kadel, in his tweet, wrote, “#SahebBiwiAurGangster3 First Weekend- ₹ 5.28 cr nett. DISASTER !”
Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3, which is the third installment in the Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster series, received mostly negative reviews from film critics across the country upon its release on June 27.
Zoom, in its review of the film, wrote, “The main problem with Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3 is its feeble storyline. Even at 2 hours 20 minutes, this film feels too long. The reason: there are hardly any surprises on the way to keep your interest alive. The narrative takes a rather stereotyped route making it an extremely predictable affair.” (Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3 Movie Review: Sanjay Dutt plays a lazy gangster in this predictable film)
Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3, bankrolled by Rahul Mittra Films and JAR Pictures, is competing with Hollywood flick Mission: Impossible – Fallout at the box-office. The Tom Cruise-starrer, which has predominantly been praised by critics, has collected over Rs 35 crore in its first weekend run at the Indian box-office.
Last week’s Bollywood release Dhadak is also giving Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3 a tough fight at the ticket windows.
